Low Blood Pressure
Although high blood pressure is a much more common condition, low blood pressure can be just as dangerous.
Most people have heard of the high blood pressure condition before, but it is really surprising just how few people are aware that there is also a condition known as low blood pressure. Blood pressure generally refers to the systemic arterial blood pressure in one’s body, and while the pressure is a result of the blood pumping from the heart to the veins and then back to the heart, the fluctuations in pressure are mainly due to the pulsating nature of the cardiac output.
There are a number of different factors which can influence a person’s blood pressure, including:
- Abnormally slow or fast heart rates
- Less volume of blood in the body
- Inefficiency of the heart to pump blood to the vessels in the body
- Resistance due to narrowing of blood vessels
- Thickness of the blood
- Dehydration due to excessive sweating or chronic diarrhea and vomiting
These are just a few of the many possible factors that can contribute to blood pressure problems, and although high blood pressure is a much more common condition, low blood pressure can be just as dangerous.
Just as how for high blood pressure there are many different high blood pressure medications, for low blood pressure there are many low blood pressure medications. It is important that a person speak to their doctor thoroughly about this before starting on any sort of medication, so that they are sure that this is going to be the best method of treatment and so that they are aware of the possible side effects that could develop.
There are also other options however, such as the natural remedies for high blood pressure which are available and which have also shown to be very effective here. It is important that anyone dealing with high or low blood pressure talk about their situation with their doctor, so that they can become more educated on it and learn about the different treatment methods that are available. This is very important because one of the worst things is when someone is dealing with a condition like this is that they simply do not know enough about it and therefore tend to make the wrong decisions. Any good doctor will work very closely together with people dealing with a blood pressure condition and make sure to keep them informed.
They should also check their blood pressure regularly in order to make sure that they are making progress and the proper improvement. If this is not seen, the medication may be upped or even switched altogether.
